High handlebars were modified way back when cause bikers were tired of being knocked off their bikes with bats and sticks. A lot of people thought of cycle culture as being so-called "evildoers", so people would try to knock them off there bikes. I fail to understand why everyone insists on wearing black while traveling on a motorcycle seems to appeal to new riders. The Fonzi look is a fashion trend that died a long time ago. Is the gang biker look alike style getting you the respect you think you deserve. Join the trend of motorcycle safety and you may never know the pain you avoided by not being creamed by some distracted soccer mom busy talking on a cell phone in her SUV. You may not think you look real stylish wearing safety green, but those open back hospital gowns aren't exactly trendy.
left by: David Wright

North Carolina Wingmen Motorcycle Club Rides for Children

the work you all do at all your location help alot of children at christmas,MAY GOD BLESS YOU ALL... and thank you for helping my daughters have a christmas last year, your savannah chapter has helped alot of us single moms.Thank you and see you dec 3 so I can give back to those in need this year YOU ARE MY HEROES
left by: deb

Motorcycle Helmets Not Effective in Fatalities

I did a study on the helmet law that was passed in California. I produced, directed and did most of the interviews on the film. It was an event protesting the "helmet law' and I never thought it would get attention in the main stream audience. However, I won a cable television award for my work and there were so many comments from the average motorcycle rider that I didn't even have to write the scrip for questioning. The riders each had their own opinion which couldn't be argued with. It just made too much sense. Well that was 1992 and according to the statistics there have been more fatalities, and injuries that are permanent then riders without a helmet. For myself, I ride with the least constricting and smallest helmet there is so I can see, hear and feel everything that's going on around me. I wear it just to comply with the law in California. Its common sense that when one wears a helmet and hits something the weight of the helmet will add to the force of the impact and there is more of a chance to pull the spine right out of the skull. A helmet is designed to protect someone in an impact 15 MPH and under or if one just forgets to put their feet out at a stop and fall over.
For myself, I've been riding for forty years and the helmet has fatigued me and over heated my head to the point where sweat was dripping into my eyes among other things that would be too long to list. Let us who ride decide. There are times I would choose to ware a helmet and other times I feel it is safer not to. I just feel that after the many years that I’ve been riding would know what is safe. The point is God has our number and most of us who ride die of old age!

There are going to be half a million people there! And tattoos are obviously big in the biker scene, right? I confess I'm pretty new to motorcycle culture; I just started working as a brand ambassador for Progressive motorcycle insurance, and since then I've become really interested in it. We're actually going to be at Sturgis, which is awesome! We'll be giving away free shirts at our booth at Thunder Road, plus having a drawing to win a custom Sucker Punch Sally's motorcycle. It's beautiful, kind of old school. The shirts are also really nice, exclusive to Sturgis and absolutely free. If you want to pick one up while you're there, you just go to http://motorcycle.progressive.com ahead of time to download the coupon, then come by our booth to drop it off and say hi! Be sure to bring the coupon though; we can only give you a free shirt if you have one. We're going to have other cool giveaways too, so it should be a fun time.

I hope I haven't overstepped my bounds by leaving this comment, I'm just trying to get the word out :) If you have any questions or want more information feel free to shoot me an Email: leah.druska@gmail.com.

See you at Thunder Road, and ride safe!

And I don't confuse loud with stupid loud. I hate stupid loud. If you've ever ridden a motorcycle over 35mph, where the wind starts to drown out those factory pipes, you can't even hear your engine RPMs to shift gears.

There's nothing like the sweet sound of that big engine purrring between your legs at 75mph.
