It's become a popular way to bring in gifts for those less fortunate during the holiday season.
Hundreds of motorcycle enthusiasts came together for a good cause in Pitt County.
It was the 23rd Annual J&E Harley Davidson Toy Ride.
The toy ride brings in gifts for children who might not otherwise get them during the holidays, and the Salvation Army distributes them.
It was a sight to see, more than 700 motorcycles riding as one.
And while the sound isn't quite music to the ear, it brought smiles and waves from those who looked on.
"They love to ride, but a lot of them love to get out and help people too," says participant Kelly White.
And as different as their motorcycles were, so were the many gifts they rode in for charity.
"It's just fun to watch people give toys to other kids that don't have them," says 9-year-old Hannah Howard, who came to watch.
No one was probably prouder than retired Marine Corps Major Jim Hannan, a toy ride pioneer.
"We started this thing in 1982, and at that time to my knowledge there was not a toy ride anywhere in the U.S." says Hannan.
Since then, Hannan says the toy ride has spread across the state, nation, even into other countries.
"Everybody says bad things spread faster than good and I think it's done quite well in 23 years," says Hannan.
These bikers donated more than 1,000 gifts, from stuffed animals to bicycles. But for them, these toys are just a small reflection of what this ride is all about.
"Every child I think needs to have a little joy in their heart and this is one of the ways to do it," says Hannan.
"It's to help children out, it's Christmas time, it's Thanksgiving, it's in the spirit," says Anthony Streter.
A spirit they hope will touch the lives of many children this holiday season.
"Everybody have a Merry Christmas," says White.
The motorcyclists rode around Pitt County for more than 10 miles.
